Pembroke Public Library offers sanctuary. Is there anything more healing than books, movies, music and food for mind and spirit? I think not. PPL offers all these plus warmth, charge-ups, extended hours and a place for our pets to warm up when the power is out. PPL rocks!

I need my library because it offers myself and my daughter a quite place to go. For my two year old it gives her an chance to play with puzzles and other toys and occasionally to play with other kids. For myself it give me a place to obtain books that i can read at night when my daughter has gone to bed. Also, for me the library is a calm and quite place that is free from stress. The staff at the library is very professional and kind. At the end of the day i feel comfortable going to richards memorial library for our reading, watching and listening needs.

As a graduate student I use the public library system in my studies. The vast library collection and minuteman system helps me find all the resources I need. The library also provides great working space that gives me a quiet place to get work done. Between reading and writing papers, the library also help me relax with great books and an excellent movie selection.

My local library makes the neighborhood! It is a meeting-place, a study spot, a recreational browsing point, a stimulus of inquiry, and place to unwind with a newly discovered magazine or book. I see people, young and old, fill it with life. I almost feel authors’ voices whispering in the air. This is the place where centuries-old texts exist amicably side by side with digital media and the laptop I bring to do work on.

The library, to me, espouses knowledge, connectedness of media and information, and virtues of sharing and coexistence between all people.

Long live the library in all its many facets!

I often spend cold, wintry days on the week end in the main library curled up in a comfy chair and catch up on my reading.

My library has been a friend on days and times in my life when I am sad, full of despair and need something to read that helps to change my mood depending upon what I am reading or watching (watching DVDs). It is a major wellness tool that I use regularly.

Libraries are a part of our lives and I am grateful for them.

I need my library because I need to connect with people on a personal level. I often check in at my library because I have known my librarians for a while now. There’s a big difference between asking a professional a line of questions to find certain material and just looking up the information online. I often find that my librarians help me to shape my search and my ideas in ways that surprise me. I believe that technology is moving so fast that a vacuum is being created, a hole in our personal relationships and the way that we process information. I feel as though the core of technology is selling something or making something less work while at the core of a library is pure information and learning.

My library is the heart of the town. It hosts numerous programs by authors, artist, historians, town planners and has wonderful activities for children. It is a life line for my father-in-law who is 89 and homebound. He reads 5-7 books a month which transport him beyond his home. My husband and I use the library on a regular basis checking out books and CDs and volunteering at library functions. The library is a constant, a place where you can peacefully read the paper, research new information and catch up with your neighbors,

I use the West Dennis Library, the CLAMS network, and the Virtual Catalog almost every day. I search for books that interest me and then request them—this saves me many dollars, since I don’t have to buy the books to read them. Sometimes I think I wear out my welcome, because I order and pick up so many books.

A trip to the library is a highlight of my day—picking up books and other materials is like picking up a Christmas or birthday present.

The library and the CLAMS system have been indispensable to me and to my wife.

In this day and age, libraries are becoming ever more important—they are the guardians of our heritage, and they are accessible to all. Whatever it costs to keep and improve them is well worth the cost. Deluged as we are by so much garbage, it is important to have repositories of knowledge such as libraries. They are a critical resource to our civilization—neglecting them is short-sighted and amounts to shooting ourselves in our collective feet.

My library is the spoonful of sugar that makes the medicine go down! It’s my favorite thing that my tax dollars get spent on. Everything else, including public safety, roads, etc. is much more boring, but necessary. The library is like a treasure trove and it’s open to us all. It also contributes to our democratic society by providing equal access to information for all, regardless of who you are or where you come from.
