Let me count the ways!
When I first moved to Mass., I didn’t have a job, friends, much money, a TV, a computer…and it was February (!) I literally went to the library everyday: to use the computers, to hang out, to browse magazines & to check out books…many, many books. I read as many as 5 a week for awhile.
Now, almost 5 years later, I have most of these things and a generally active life, but I still use libraries (Cambridge, Arlington, Brookline & Lexington) at least once or twice a week for both my own pleasure and my work. I work as an ESL tutors for both children and adults and the libraries are invaluable as a resource for materials and a place to study.
I LOVE the local libraries (especially my neighborhood’s Cambridge Main) and recommend it to all my students. It’s by far one of my favorite uses of my tax money.
