Why I Need My Library
I need my library for so many reasons, I am not sure I could list them all. More importantly, my child needs our library. Yes, we could research non fiction subjects via the internet, but I want him to learn to appreciate the feel of a book in your hand and enjoy the processes of looking for and finding a book. Of looking through the book to find the necessary information. That is skill is lost when merely typing a question into the computer.
My son took part in every event offerred by the library…Story time, crafts, Holiday events. It has helped shape who he is. It helped prepare him for preschool. The adult workshops have provided me a chance to learn and socialize. These events have been cut back due to funding issues and if they are lost as a whole, too many children will lose out on growth and opportunity.
We need the library to enjoy the many adventures a book provides and at a cost we all can afford. To buy every book, even to rent every movie we could access through the library, we would have missed out on all of the adventures, stories and time enjoyed in a book.
Most importantly, our library has provided us with a libarian that puts in more time than she is reimbursed for. A woman so caring and thoughtful, my child cannot help but feel affection for this building filled with stories, knowledge and creativity!!
